Crochet+Shawl Assistive Info
I was so excited to get this book in my hands because I love crochet. I only liked one pattern in it. The styles in the book just weren’t my speed. I don’t go out in evening gowns too often, so I don’t really need a shawl that fancy. Also, if you’re a crocheter, and you like doing dtr and tr’s to the nth height, this is your book. The designer really loves her spiral shapes, so many of these shawls/wraps are based on that Nautilus-style pattern. I simply don’t go for the kind of net-like crocheted wearable, so it’s not a set of patterns I can embrace. I think this book would appeal to people who like ribbon yarns and slinky metallic yarns and who wear edgier clothes than I do.
Help answer the question about Crochet Shawl
I need to block a crocheted shawl... never done it before... have questions!?
So I just made a lacy crocheted shawl, the shill shell shawl on ravelry if you're a member. Here's a couple cell phone pics. One is basically dunk the whole thing in water, then lay it out flat on a towel to dry. I worry about this one, because you know how if you leave your clothes in the washing machine too long they smell funny? What if my shawl and towel do that?The other way is to flatten your shawl onto an ironing board, get a towel wet, and then iron the towel, making the steam from the towel block the shawl. This way sounds better to me, but it seems maybe this isn't always the best method?So basically I need some advice from someone who's done this before!
